# Puro.earth Policy Brief: EU Carbon Removal Certification Framework

The EU has provisionally agreed a high-level framework for carbon removal certification, the so-called the EU CRCF. It covers a wide range of carbon removals, and some reductions, and focuses on how the removals will be certified to create carbon removal units. This is a work in progress and we will keep you updated as the framework evolves. Puro.earth expects it will go-live in Q1 2026, but it is a phased-approach where some carbon removal activities will be included quicker than others.
